Psalms 72

The Reign of the Righteous King.

A Psalm of Solomon.

1 Give the king aYour judgments, God,
And bYour righteousness to the king’s son.

Or He will judge
May
Many of the pronouns in this Psalm may be rendered He since the typical reference is to the Messiah
he ejudge Your people with righteousness

Or Your humble

gYour afflicted with justice.

Or The mountains will bring
May the mountains bring
Or prosperity
,
jpeace to the people,
And the hills, in righteousness.

Or He will vindicate
May he lvindicate the
Or humble
afflicted of the people,
Save the children of the needy,
And crush the oppressor.

Or They will fear
May they fear You owhile the sun shines,
And
Lit before the moon
as long as the moon shines, throughout all generations.

Or He will come down
May he come down rlike rain upon the mown grass,
Like sshowers that water the earth.
7
Or The righteous will flourish
May the urighteous flourish in his days,
As well as an vabundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

8 May he also rule wfrom sea to sea,
And from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.

Or The nomads...will bow
May ythe nomads of the desert zbow before him,
And his enemies aalick the dust.

Or The kings...will bring
May the kings of acTarshish and of the
Or coastlands
,
aeislands bring gifts;
May the kings of afSheba and agSeba ahoffer tributes.

Or All kings will bow down
And may all ajkings bow down before him,
All aknations serve him.

12 For he will alsave the needy when he cries for help,
The
Or humble
afflicted also, and him who has no helper.
13 He will have ancompassion on the poor and needy,
And he will save the

lives of the needy.
14 He will

aqrescue their

life from oppression and violence,
And their blood will be asprecious in his sight;
15 So may he live, and may the atgold of Sheba be given to him;
And

16 May there be abundance of grain on the earth on top of the mountains;
Its fruit will wave like the cedars of awLebanon;
And may those from the city flourish like the axvegetation of the earth.
17 May his ayname endure forever;
May his name produce descendants

baas long as the sun shines;
And may people bbwish blessings on themselves by him;
bcMay all nations call him blessed.

18 bdBlessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
Who alone beworks wonders.
19 And blessed be His bfglorious name forever;
And may the whole bgearth be filled with His glory.
